The existence of Global Positioning System (GPS) has contributed a lot to our today’s life. We no longer need to bring maps when we go to new places, we just need to activate our GPS and we’ll get the guidance (and sometimes the alternative path) to go the destination. It is very useful when we are going to big cities since in big cities we are rarely found two sides road.
It began in 1957 when Russia launched Sputnix into space. The scientists then realize that they can monitor and tack the progress based on the strength of the radio signal. It was the beginning of GPS’s invention. Then, they launched the Transit System: a system of 6 satellites that circled around the earth and helped to point the location.
The first modern GPS was used by United States Department of Defense and launched in 1978. Nowadays, there are 24 satellites that circle the earth continually and is used for different functions, such as: GPS mapping, navigation, and tracking.
The most wonderful part of this invention is its size; we can handle the GPS while we’re driving because the size is very small. Even, some smart phones have been occupied with GPS technology.
